WHO WE ARE:

Group 122 is based in York and serves most areas within the Diocese.  It was first formed in the  1980’s by IBVM Sister Lucy Wilson until the early 1990’s when Joe Stead took over the group until 1994.  The group didn’t travel for a few years until Margaret Brooks from Middlesbrough re-established the group in 1999 and continued to run the group until 2005.  The group leader is currently Claire Shanks who is supported in her role by Irene Shanks, the group’s deputy group leader.  Claire has been involved with Group 122 since 1993 when she travelled as a young helper.

The group’s current chaplain is Fr Tony Lester who is travelling with the group for the first time next Easter.  We are busy planning next Easter’s trip to Lourdes, finding children and young people to participate in the HCPT Lourdes experience.  Helpers are also busy with the preparations for the trip such as fundraising, administration, risk planning, etc.

If you would like to make a donation to the group for next year’s pilgrimage, please contact Claire on the contact details below.
If you would like details of how a child or young person can join HCPT’s Easter Pilgrimage, or you would like to accompany Group 122 as a voluntary helper please contact:
